Nightly Rituals

I’ve always taken routines and schedules seriously, I am a Virgo after all. And I especially love my night time rituals. While it can be so easy to watch TV or be on your phone before bed, I try to follow the below steps each night, which help me fall asleep mere minutes after my face hits the pillow. While I can’t promise you the below tips will automatically make your sleep problems disappear, I do hope they help! And let’s be real, I also fall asleep countless nights while scrolling my IG feed. We’re all human!

Journaling

Journaling is something I’ve been doing off and on since my teen years. While it can be a little bit awkward to do at first, I just grab my notebook and a pen, and write down whatever I am feeling. Literally anything that pops into my mind goes down on paper. It’s extremely therapeutic and it allows me to get all of my worries, thoughts, or gratitudes on paper before I close my eyes.

Essential Oil

We know Lavender is proven to help increased slow-wave sleep, instrumental for slowing heartbeat and relaxing muscles, which is exactly why I’m obsessed with this oil. The main ingredient is Lavender and I lather on this serum before bed every single night.

Planning

If I could dream up the perfect planner/agenda/calendar, this would be it. Not only is the design super sleek, minimal, and clean, it also includes a calendar for each month, weekly planning sheets so you can keep track of events and goals while keeping yourself accountable at the month end check-ins/reflections. I also love that there are blank sheets of paper scattered throughout so you can quickly journal or write down your weekly grocery list.

Cup of Tea

I’m obsessed with the entire Sakara Life ethos and love drinking their tea (morning or night!) While they do have a “Sleep Tea”, one of the ingredients is Cherries (which I’m allergic to). So, I stick to the Detox Tea, which is 100% caffeine free and supports the body’s natural cleansing systems. I find it very relaxing to drinks something warm before bed. Any tea will do, but this is a new favorite for me!

Meditation

This book single handedly changed my mentality a year ago. I started reading Journey to the Heart on January 1, 2019 and I’m now coming back for more. I can see why it’s so easy to re-read over and over again as your mindset shifts, so the daily meditations feel different year to year.
