Eden Roc Cap Cana, Dominican Republic

Ever since having Daphne, traveling has become just a bit more complicated. And because our little girl loves sleeping in her crib, we’ve found ourselves nap trapped one too many times! So, when we decided to go on a week long vacation to a warm destination, our number one priority was finding a hotel where Daphne could stick to her nap schedule (and sleep in her crib) without my husband and I being stuck in the hotel room alone. After looking at every single island and hotel possible, we landed on the Eden Roc Cap Cana in the Dominican Republic!

From NYC it’s a short 3.5 hour flight (we flew Delta direct), and you can read more about the fun of flying with babies here. With current covid guidelines, you can fly to the Dominican Republic without a negative covid test, but you will need one before you return back to the US. Our hotel made it super simple and came to our room to administer the test 24 hours before our departure.

Okay, now to the fun stuff.

Typically, our vacations are packed full of activities and dinner reservations, but as this was our first family trip, we picked a very small resort where we could truly relax. Given Daphne’s nap situation, we opted for one of the Luxury Pool Junior Suites so that while Daphne was napping in her room, Jonathan and I could enjoy the pool and pergola in our “backyard”. Eden Roc also offers an incredible package of baby items (including crib with toys and changing table, package of swim diapers, beach playpen, baby monitor, baby bath, and more!) They also have babysitters on staff (which we used and were wonderful), as well as a kids club with care and activities available.

The area where we were located was a 2 minute golf cart ride from the main hotel, so we would drive down each morning for breakfast, and then hang on the beach for a bit before heading back for Daphne’s first nap. Jonathan and I would then relax out back by the pool, or one of us would workout/go on a walk. Once Daphne was awake, we’d hop back in the golf cart and head to the beach for a few hours and grab lunch. By late afternoon we’d head back to our pool and relax until dinner.

The hotel has 3 restaurants (or room service), and the most beautiful golf course (seriously, Robb Report’s “Best of the Best” selected it as one of the most extraordinary golf courses in the world and #1 in the Caribbean). They also have an incredible spa, bikes, yoga, and more!

It was the first time that the 3 of us got to spend 7 days together with no interruptions. We left with our hearts completely full of wonderful memories together. Not to mention, Daphne had a ball! She was living her best life in the Dominican sunshine! She tried every single fruit possible, played in the sand, swam in every pool, laughed, giggled, and started crawling!

A trip we will never forget!
