How To Create a Spay Day at Home

Here we are about a year later, and Covid is still very much present in all of our lives. Because of this, I’ve been getting creative in my attempts of escapism. One thing I miss dearly is a great day at the spa. I used to love going for massages and having the full spa experience — you know, that cozy feeling when you have on slippers and a big white bathrobe sipping tea while you’re waiting for the masseuse to say your name? Oh, what I would do to be transported there right now. Well, I’ve recently discovered that you can get just about the same feeling at home, with a few quick tips.

  1. Buy a nice big oversized white bathrobe (and slippers!)

I personally love our Frette bathrobes (which were a wedding gift!) and The White Company unisex Slippers. I’ve also heard great things about Parachute, Matouk, and Snowe.

2. Turn off the lights in your bathroom, and light a few candles to set the mood

Some of my all-time favorite candles are from Diptyque, Jo Malone, and Brooklyn Candle Studio.

3. Play spa music on bluetooth speakers (so you don’t have to be attached to your phone if you don’t want to be)

The Spa Relaxing Music playlist on Spotify is perfect.

4. Turn on your bathwater (or shower) as you start your self-care routine

This might include dry brushing, exfoliating, or putting on a face mask — whatever you do to prepare your body for ultimate relaxation

5. It’s time to relax and enjoy your bath (or shower).

If you’re taking a bath, I love adding nourishing salts like Ahava or Mother Soak, and bubbles are always a nice addition as well. This is YOUR time, so do whatever relaxes you. Maybe that’s closing your eyes and listening to a meditation or perhaps you want to read a book or watch your favorite reality TV show or talk to a friend on the phone. You do you, and enjoy every moment of it!

6. After your bath, slip back into your robe, lotion up your body, and feel free to get right into bed, you’ll be so relaxed you may even fall right to sleep.

Goodnight!
