February Finds

I find February to be a bit of a tough month. Living in NYC, we are usually given cloudy and cold weather and with the sun setting near 5PM, we find ourselves cooped up in our apartment more than we would like to be. I long for the sunny and warm days of Spring ahead. This month, my husband and I made it our mission to plan a few fun weekends with friends and family, while also taking the time to rest (mostly by binge-watching our new favorite show, Love is Blind on Netflix!)

Below, you’ll find some of my favorite February finds.

Candle Holder

Jonathan and I have been trying to incorporate shabbat candle lightings on Friday nights as a way to unwind from our busy work weeks. We turn off our phone, light these candles, and reflect. We absolutely LOVE this candle holder from Food 52. The rust-colored candles perfectly warm up our living room and we recently bought them on a weekend trip to Kingston, New York.

Dried Flowers

A few weeks ago we went on a weekend trip to Hudson, New York with friends. While Jonathan and I have explored Hudson many times, we always stumble upon a new shop or restaurant that we absolutely love. On this trip, it was The Quiet Botanist. This adorable shop is a botanical apothecary. Featuring gorgeous air dried flowers, as well as candles, oils, ointments, and they even do treatments! While we didn’t pick up a custom dried arrangement for our home, I’m totally kicking myself for not doing so. Next time we head North, we will definitely be going back to get one — and I know the perfect place for it!

Helping with Hydration

I’ve recently incorporated both of these products into my every-day beauty routine and I could not be happier! Every winter I end up in the dermatologists office (who happens to be one of my best friends, Dr. Charlotte Birnbaum) as I can never keep my skin hydrated. This winter, I have not had this problem as I’ve been religiously lathering on Summer Friday’s Jetlag mask before bed. The second product I’ve been loving is actually for my hair — Kerastase’s new Genesis Blow Dry Primer. It smells incredible and hydrates without frizz. I put this on when my hair is wet, before I use my blow-dryer as the main purpose of this product is to protect hair from blow dry heat while preventing split ends.

Grown Up Bar Cart

When Jonathan and I moved into our new apartment last June, there were a few pieces of furniture that we were dying to get rid of. One of them being our “bar cart”. Honestly, we were sick of looking at bottles of liquor that we would only use once every few months. Last weekend, my Mom was in town and mentioned that she saw a beautiful cabinet from Target of all places (on sale for $275). As we’ve been looking at expensive pieces for months that we weren’t thrilled about, I knew this was the piece as soon as I saw it. We quickly purchased and Jonathan assembled it (while Love is Blind was obviously playing in the background). This Cabinet holds all of our wine glasses, champagne glasses, liquor, and more! The decor on top is also new, the vases are from West Elm and the photograph was taken by Jonathan’s very talented Father.

Sweet Tooth

Our good friends are Vegan and introduced us to this chocolate a few weeks ago when we were in Hudson, New York. While we are very lucky in NYC to have a Hu Kitchen in Union Square, you can also pick this up at your local Whole Foods. If you know me, I’ve been obsessed with chocolate my entire life so it’s safe to say that this is my new favorite treat!
