Newborn Essentials

Prior to creating our baby registry, I tried to do a ton of research online and asked for recommendations from my closest girlfriends and sister. Now that we’ve been navigating life with Daphne for the past 8 weeks, I’m super excited to put together my favorite favorite baby essentials, which all made the transition home much easier. And while I know creating your registry and trying to decide between car seats can be really overwhelming, just remember, your baby only needs a few things and most important are your love and care! You’re going to do great!

Snuggle Me

This item wasn’t on my registry, but a friend gifted it to me and it was Daphne’s favorite pillow to lounge in the first month (Because she was so tiny when we came home from the hospital, it fit her perfectly!) Now that she’s getting a bit bigger, she’s loving the Doc-A-Tot!

Owlet Smart Sock

Definitely one of my top 5 baby products. Putting the owlet on Daphne each night when she goes to sleep gives me the peace of mind. I can go to sleep with ease knowing she’s safe and well in her crib.

Play Gym

We love this play gym for Daphne’s tummy time! The gym includes everything your child needs in an activity gym and play mat—from batting to teething to learning to focus—for playtime and tummy time with purpose. Designed by child development experts!

Diaper Bag

Absolutely loving my Happ Diaper Bag. It opens wide enough that I can see everything inside instead of having to dig around to find the items I need. My mom helped me pack it with everything I need and there’s still room to spare (for now!).

Baby Bjorn

Daphne loves her Baby Bjorn bouncer! I sometimes put her in this while reading books and other times, we use it when we’re trying to eat a quick dinner and need to be hands free! We also got this adorable toy bar for when she’s older and needs to be a bit more entertained.

UppaBaby Vista Stroller

One of our friends (specifically her husband!) has officially been named the stroller king. While they were pregnant with their first child, he talked about strollers as if they were the best new technology product on the market. But, jokes aside, they ended up going with the UppaBaby Vista and love it! Now that I’ve wheeled Daphne on multiple walks to the Pediatrician and to Central Park, I agree that it’s incredible. The storage space underneath is wonderful and she’s loving her daily walks in the bassinet.

Sortjoy Bins

I have found so many different uses for these bins, I love them! I have 8 of them in Daphne’s armoire — filled with toys, blankets, swaddles, sleep sacks, and books. I also keep her diapers in them on her changing table! They’re super functional and I love that they’re sustainable.

They were nice enough to send me a code for all of you! Use KJACOBS for 10% off your order.

Baby Carrier

This wasn’t on my registry, but we received it as a gift and I absolutely love it! I’ve worn it for walks in Central Park, as well as getting things done around our apartment!

If you’re looking for other options, A family friend swears by this baby carrier, and if you’re into wraps instead of carriers, a good friend of mine loves her Boba.

Travel Stroller/Car Seat

This is what we took to the hospital as it’s a car seat and travel stroller in one! It worked perfectly and is great for those of us that live in the City. This stroller can easily break down into a car seat for uber rides, and is great when traveling to an airport and arriving in a new city. Super easy to use!

Travel Play Mat

I’m so excited about this travel play mat for our picnics in the park. It’s small enough to keep at the bottom of our stroller, yet big enough for us to all enjoy and sit on together. This travel mat wipes clean making it ultra-portable, super practical.

Snoo

The snoo has been a dream product for Daphne. It’s a bit controversial as it can make transitioning to the crib a lot harder, but we’ve used the “weaning” mode from day one (because Daphne doesn’t seem to love the motion). But, it has a built in sound machine, and if she does cry, it will gently rock her back to sleep. I love the app that it comes with and that I can see exactly how she’s sleeping each night.

Muslin Burp Bib

I use these all day long, and truly never have enough! I love the large size and shape (they fit perfectly under her chin!) They’re great for feedings and burping.

UV Sterilizer and Drying Station

One of the most popular drying stations is the Boon, but we decided to go with something a but more discreet and I’m so obsessed. This hands down my favorite baby product! This UV sanitation and drying station will have your bottle and pump parts completely sanitized and dried in as little as 30 minutes! Plus, you can throw in your iPhone or baby toys, too!

Burt's Bees Baby Washcloths

Loving these burt’s bees wash cloths for bath time, and diaper time! My friend taught me a great trip to combat diaper rash — after using wet wipes to clean up the diaper mess, pat a cloth on their bottom to completely dry out the area before putting on diaper cream and the diaper. It’s worked wonders — so we have a stack of these next to our tub and our changing table!

Loving these 3-stage bathtub for our nightly baths. Since she’s so small, we currently use a towel on the bottom. For bath products, she’s loving the fragrance free Tubby Todd Hair + Body Wash and bamboo washcloths.

Baby Brew

Love this bottle warmer for on-the-go feeds! You can’t use it with formula, but it’s perfect for babies who are given breast milk bottles. It’s so great because it’s portable and requires no outlet to heat up, it also shows you the exact temperature and will give you a perfectly warm bottle in as little as 5-10 minutes.

Huckleberry App

Obsessed with the Huckleberry app to track all of Daphne’s feedings, diaper changes, & sleep! Can’t recommend this enough!

Happ Stroller Organizer

We have this organizer hanging from our stroller and love how it holds all of our essential items for when we’re out and about with Daphne — I can fit my keys, wallet, phone, sunglasses, mask, and a drink. I’m sure at some point I’ll be swapping some of these items for baby toys, but for now, it’s keeping me super organized for our daily stroller walks!
